Oversize sweaters are my winter go-to. My closet is filled with these comfy bundles of joy that I look forward to wearing each year as soon as it hits below 60 degrees (for us southerners, that’s close to freezing). Whether you pair it with a skirt, leggings or some ripped jeans, an oversized sweater is comfortable, practical and stylish. For class, I’ll go with my sweater of choice, a pair of leggings, some fuzzy socks and my favorite boots—a look that is easy to throw on and necessary considering I’m almost always running late. For a more put together look, I’ll go for something like what I’m wearing today.
Suede has become a recent popular trend that adds great texture and detail to any look. Here I am wearing a black suede skirt with metal embellishments from American Eagle Outfitters. I love this skirt because I can dress it up or down, wearing it to a tailgate on game day (my school colors are red and black) or a fun night downtown with friends when I want something a little nicer. Not only is the suede material insanely soft, it also makes the skirt look more luxurious and expensive when it’s really quite affordable (found it on sale for $35). Black and gray are staple colors in my wardrobe. I always ask a sales associate if a piece I love comes in one of these colors when shopping—they go with everything!
Wrap necklaces are everywhere right now as an accessory that is both classic and simple. Here I am wearing my favorite wrap necklace from Red Dress Boutique, an Athens store I love. I personally am not big on accessorizing. I like focusing more on the actual clothes, but I love adding this wrap necklace to any look as a special detail.
Sunglasses have become both a stylish and practical accessory to add to an everyday look. With a variety of shapes and styles to choose from, there’s a pair out there that works with everyone’s style. Recently, colorful lenses have become more popular than your typical brown or black. Here I am wearing a pair I recently purchased from Forever 21. I love the colorful lenses that add a pop of color to my neutral outfit, and the tortoise shell rim gives the glasses a classic look.
If you’re like me, you’re a creature of habit when it comes to the colors you wear and your sense of style. I’m pretty set on ways when it comes to fashion. Next time think about adding a new accessory or maybe look for a staple piece in a different texture or color. It’s all about the small changes and unique details that can really evolve your favorite oversize sweater from drab to #RAD!
