Hey there, fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Taylor Hayden and I am a third year studying magazine journalism at the University of Cincinnati. I am ecstatic to be starting my experience with CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru intern for the spring semester!
My style is all over the place and there are certain aspects that I like about each style. My day-to-day outfits depend very much on how I’m feeling that day. A lot of times, I find myself mixing indie and preppy together. I love the carefree, mismatched indie look, but I also enjoy how classic and timeless preppy styles are. I prefer my style to be comfortable and practical, but still remain on-trend.
Growing up, my family was on a tight budget; therefore, my mom taught me to only get the items that I truly wanted. Learning this skill allowed me to get the most use out of my clothing. Today, I strive to be as reasonable and thrifty as possible while still being satisfied with my style. Now that I am older, it has been instilled in me to buy things that remain classic, yet fashionable. Most of the items that I own work for today, tomorrow and the future.
Fads tend to be expensive, quick and gone. They do not transcend time. I personally avoid fads because I prefer my style to be original and I view style as very personal. Having a style that is classic and practical allows you to get the most out of your money while still remaining trendy. Remember that the style you choose is a reflection of who you are, how you are perceived and should make you feel confident about yourself.
