STYLE GURU STYLE: That ‘70s Show

The ‘70s comeback is undeniable. Flare jeans, bohemian long dresses, lace-up blouses or suede pieces have been all over the place. To be honest it was practically inevitable considering that the aforesaid trend was prevalent in most spring 2015 Prêt-à-Porter collections.

I must say, that at first I was a bit reticent about it. I am not really keen on the ‘70s nor the ’80s fashion. I have always been a ‘60s girl. However, when I saw Derek Lam‘s collection, I was converted. I was captivated by all the suede pieces so I couldn’t help going out and buying something on the high street that could imitate the runway trend.

As always, Zara saved me. On a desperate find for some suede in the middle of July, I found this camel sleeveless top. When I put it on I instantly felt like I was on the last season of Mad Men or that I was Jackie Burkhart aka Mila Kunis on That ’70s Show. Despite of that, I have never lived in the ‘70s and I felt that I needed to give the trend my own twist. Because of that I’ve paired the top with some black high-waisted jeans, some golden ankle strap sandals and a wool black hat to give it the final touch. I am also wearing a vintage gold bangle to add some bling to the outfit.

I am very pleased that a trend I was very reluctant to try at first has worked out so well. Sometimes it is important to go out of your comfort zone, even if it is to go 40 years back.
