STYLE GURU STYLE: That '70s Style

Summer is almost half way over, so it’s time to fully embrace the season. That means wearing warm tones, short skirts and fun sunglasses. This is the time when we can finally relax and take a break from all of the stress that comes with college and our fashion choices should reflect that. To me, this season resonates strongly with the ’70s, where everyone was happier and a little bit freer.

With The Beatles hype coming to an end and the Disco age beginning, the ’70s were a time of exploration. Bell bottoms, peace signs, flowers and fringe bags scattered the streets. People celebrated freedom and embraced happiness throughout this time period, despite everything going on in the world. Emilio Pucci’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear line brings us right back to those laid back times. The line has clothing with intricate floral and beading detail that stand out against the warm colors in the fabric. The deep plunging necklines, high suede boots and patterned vests were just some of my favorite articles that graced the Pucci runway.

For my look, I decided to embrace the ’70s just like the Emilio Pucci line did, but with a more casual vibe. Embracing my inner “flower child,” I matched a hot pink tank top with a flower skater skirt. I wore tan oxford styled shoes and a small tan satchel purse. I chose pink and orange reflective circle sunglasses. These sunglasses emphasized the ‘70s look and were perfect for a hot summer day. For jewelry, I had on a key necklace covered in brightly colored jewels reminiscent of Zoey’s necklace on the TV show Zoey 101. I wore three different rings: a Claddagh ring that I wear every day, a sparkly ring and a Pandora ring. I wore a plethora of Alex and Ani charm bracelets to complete the look.

Get My Look: 1. Flower skirt. 2. Crop top. 3.  Reflective sunglasses.
