STYLE GURU STYLE: That's A Wrap

Beautiful organic fabrics graced the runway of Tibi’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. Fabrics such as suede, leather and linen were flawlessly crafted into impeccable garments. Amy Smilovic, the designer for Tibi, was inspired by other countries to make this collection. “I tried to bring together the modernity of Japan with the craftwork from Peru,” she said from an interview with Style.com. “The reason is, I love all their organic fabrics, but there’s a fine line, because we’re not all just at the beach or shopping at the natural-food market. You live in a city and you have to work.” Smilovic married the easygoing fabrics from Peru to make them into garments that a modern, working woman could easily wear no matter what they are doing.

I was the most inspired by the wrap skirt in look 26. It’s effortless. The linen material makes the skirt causal, but the wrap style dresses it up a bit. By juxtaposing these two elements into one design, Smilovic has created a perfect skirt. For my look, I chose a wrap skirt that was made out of T-shirt material. It has the same simplicity in that it is made of a casual fabric. On the other hand, the design is what makes it a little dressier.

I completed my ensemble by adding a little color with a crop top, an amethyst necklace, a choker and fun lace up booties. I know that this Tibi show was made up of muted tones, but it’s spring and I felt like adding some periwinkle.
