I’ve had a love/hate relationship with corduroy my entire life. While I could never really pull off the corduroy skinny jean, I found myself obsessing over the fabric. We’ve seen it used for adorable pinafore jumpers and colorful bell-bottoms, but I wasn’t able to make it work. Until now. This season, we’ve seen the return of the Sherpa collared corduroy jacket, and I could not be happier. The 1980s are back, and let me tell you, it’s looking good. I’m all about those comeback retro pieces. Like mom jeans and clogs, I’m hoping this style sticks around for a while.
With the persistent winter weather, I’m all about layering. In this look, I’ve combined my favorite black corduroy jacket with some staple pieces that will last all the way into the spring! Here, I’ve layered a vintage band T-shirt with a sleeveless turtleneck top. While band T-shirts seem to be all the rage right now, the turtleneck gives it a unique, winter twist. On the bottom half, I have my black skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters, and a chunky pair of brogues. No look is complete without a rockin’ pair of sunnies. These reflective colored lenses add a bit of color to my monochromatic look.
While I found my jacket from a thrift store, there are some awesome options from Free People, Topshop, Levi’s, and Brandy Melville. I would suggest getting a larger size so you can layer underneath and keep yourself looking cute while staying warm!
