Ever since I bought my first faux leather jacket in 2012, I have been in love with leather. Whether it’s in the form of a purse, an adorable pair of boots or even a bracelet, I’ve always found the leather trend to be edgy in a fabulously classic way. Since I’m a pretty reserved person when it comes to my clothing, I enjoy it when the trends swing right into my comfort zone.
When I stumbled upon photographs from the Fendi spring 2015 ready-to-wear fashion show, I knew instantly that I had to dig my leather dress (which was bought on a whim this past March) out of my closet and give it some love. Fendi’s summer looks featured bold silhouettes, leather dresses, fabulous heels and exciting pops of color when you’d least expect it. The models kept their makeup simple and a summer color palette served to delight and inspire. It was armed with that runway show that I went in search of my summer outfit inspiration.
I found this dress at Forever 21 and fell in love with the sheath cut, the grommets on the bottom hem and the braided leather strands that add a bit of a quirky twist. In keeping with Fendi’s theme of brightly-colored accessories, I added in my bright red reversible tote to offset the black of my shoes and dress. For the finishing touch, I put on some of Maybelline’s Color Elixir lip gloss in the shade Petal Peach and wrapped a leather snap bracelet around my wrist.
