I love watching live feeds online of runway shows to see the the latest trends and the endearingly wacky styles that designers are coming out with. What I love about designer fashion is that it’s always surprising and even entertaining! As much as I enjoy following the shows, I must admit that I get a little bummed out sometimes because the looks are often way too extravagant and expensive for me to mimic. However, there was one trend that stood out to me because of it’s simplicity and affordability: slip dresses worn over T-Shirts.
The Courrèges spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection was an inspiration to watch. While there were numerous noteworthy looks, my favorite outfits in the entire show were when the models wore spaghetti strap slip dresses over short and long sleeve T-Shirts. While slip dresses and T-Shirts aren’t really worth getting excited about as individual pieces, the combination of them creates an intriguing and edgy look. It’s a style that can be worn in both casual and dressy occasions and the best part is that anyone can easily recreate it!
Taking my own personal spin on the look, I styled my outfit by pairing a grey T-Shirt and layering a floral dress that had a slip-like cut over it. To accessorize, I wore a vintage pearl choker necklace, sparkly stud earrings and a blue bracelet. Lastly, I threw on a pair of silver platform sandals to complete my simple and trendy getup.
