STYLE GURU STYLE: There's a New Sheriff in Town

When thinking of the “wild, wild west” we can’t help but picture the cliché films with cowboy boots, standoff gun fights and tumble weeds. However, if Ralph Lauren’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection would have debuted in these movies then we would have missed out on an amazing assortment of neutral combinations, monochromatic ensembles, fringe and Navajo patterns. Ralph Lauren has been praised as a god of the fashion world and has inspired many such as Kanye West with his creative eye. He is constantly pushing boundaries with his innovative way of taking a culture or way of living and creating destination themes.

When imagining ways to recreate this line, I took a casual approach to Lauren’s destination collection which came across a little costume-y to some. I started off with my cargo pants; they are not only stylish, but they also have a relaxed fit and are the perfect neutral color to go with anything. I then paired them with my patterned, loose fitted top which has a ton of fringe lining the sleeves. In Lauren’s collection, he used fringe everywhere he could; this top was so fun and had a distinct Western flavor about it. He incorporated suede, capes, fur and tons of embellishment in his collection. Because it was a warmer day in Greenville, I decided to keep the material light and airy. I fell in love with the cowboy hats that some models were wearing. It is the perfect way to complete a final look and I am dying to have one in my closet by next fall.

Lauren’s collection is perfect for next fall. It has a sleek and polished look which causes it to dawn on the urban woman side rather than a costume. I understand spring is coming, so don’t pull out the furs or suedes too soon or you’ll burn under the sun! If you can’t do the neutral look from head to toe, then throw on a bright shirt of colored combat boots like I did. However, don’t overpower the simplicity of the outfit! All in all, if you try this look out then there will be a new sheriff in town. (p.s. that’s you!).

Get My Look: 1. Fringe blouse. 2. Cargo pants. 3. Combat boots.
