One lesson I learned from my mother is that black never goes out of style. No matter the occasion, season or year, black will always be in. Another staple that seems to never go out of style is the turtleneck. Although my attitude towards the turtleneck has since changed, I will always remember the dreadful winter days where I was forced to wear them to elementary school. Nowadays, a black turtleneck sweater, jeans and booties is my idea of the perfect winter outfit.
If there were a runway show tailored to my personal style this season, it would be the BCBGMAXAZRIA fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Chunky sweaters, chic coats and of course, turtlenecks, were the name of the game this year, and I am not complaining. Much of the aesthetic of the collection was right up my alley as well–all black. Sticking with the show’s color scheme, as well as the chunky turtleneck sweaters, all I had to add were the finishing touches.
My outfit includes a black Free People sweater, as well as black jeans and my go-to booties. Due to the oversized shape of the sweater, keeping the rest of the outfit fitted and minimalist was my key to success. To keep my ears warm, I also added my favorite Love Your Melon beanie, a necessity in the winter months!
