STYLE GURU STYLE: Un-Cuffing Season

Welcome to another fashionable week, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I hope your summer is living up to every expectation—I know mine is!

First off, I want to apologize because last week I posted about a Fashionista rocking boyfriend jeans, and here I am, doing the same! I bet everyone who knows me is sick of hearing me rave about boyfriend jeans. However, after seeing all of the killer street style looks featuring un-cuffed boyfriend jeans or straight leg jeans, I knew I had to try it.

I first spotted this style in Alexander Wang’s resort 2016 collection where there was one particular look featured. That look was a pair of cropped denim jeans that were flared a bit at the hem. At first I thought I was having a flashback to like 2003, but then I kind of dug it. There is something so “cool girl” about wearing jeans un-cuffed and rebelling against the skinny jean.

Naturally, I had to try it for myself. I decided that to style this pair of boyfriend jeans, I wanted to be true to my usual monochromatic and minimalistic style. I added a gauzy white tank top to create a nice contrast with texture but still keeping the color soft like the color of the denim.

On top of the tank, I threw on a classic black blazer, which I admittedly have had forever. This blazer is one of my favorites though because it is super high quality and looks good with almost everything.

To complete the look, I wore a pair of duo toned black and brown sandals that have a chunky wedge-like heel. These sandals are super easy to walk in and the perfect combination of casual and dressy. Lastly, I added a simple shoulder bag with a gold tassel, which reminds me a lot of the iconic Y’s Yves Saint Laurent bags.

Get My Look: 1. Light wash boyfriend jeans. 2. White swing tank top. 3. Black blazer. 4. Casual heeled sandals.
