Even on the gloomiest of days, feeling a shade of blue can have a positive spin to it. With the recent New York Fashion Week events going on here in the city, I have paired designer pieces with a touch of comfort to show how high-end fashion can also be comfy-cozy chic.
Since Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have taken over as co-creative directors for Valentino, the duo has placed a new-found energy into the brand bringing the company back to the forefront of the fashion industry. Red Valentino has launched their spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection and yet again, it is simply wonderful. Classic silhouettes accompanied by an abundance of lace wisps me away to wardrobe wonderland. Chiffon, lace and leather are a triple threat in this year’s collection as well as delicate flower embroidery that gives each piece it’s own touch of femininity.
This Rebecca Minkoff dress is a perfect piece to add to my wardrobe because it can be worn alone in the summer and spring or accompanied by a sweater and tights come the colder seasons. Any woman can feel regal while twirling around in royal blue, trust me. The mid-waist detail of an elegant bow above a ruffle trim adds grace to this dress but still keeps it looking simple.
Recently, I am obsessing over new cashmere sweaters because it will soon be chilly here in Manhattan. No complaining from me though; winter is my middle name after all. I brought out my white Marc Jacobs bag to carry around all the little things a girl can need in the big city. These Hinge sandals were a score because not only are they adorable, versatile and nude, but they are incredibly comfortable. A big bonus for walking these streets!
As for accessories, my incredibly gracious grandmother brought back this Murano glass “A” pendant from where my family is from in Fomarco, Italy about ten years ago, and I have loved it dearly ever since. Including sentimental pieces in your outfits is what makes a wardrobe personal. As usual, my other accessories consist of my watch, my pearl earrings, and a pair of sunglasses just in case the sun decides to grace us with its presence.
