STYLE GURU STYLE: Versatile Wardrobe

It‘s that time of the year when you don’t know what to wear because Mother Nature cannot be trusted. That is the fluctuating weather when summer is about to transition into fall. Toronto is definitely known for its unpredictable weather that surprises its people everyday.

In the afternoon it should be 70 degrees and by the time the sun sets it’s freezing cold and you’re regretting not carrying a sweater even though it’s clunky and wouldn’t have complemented your outfit… What can I say? Style Gurus will stop at nothing to look good. Despite these fashion hurdles we all go through, there are just some pieces you will find that will work perfectly in that summer to fall limbo.

For me personally, I have to say my new favorite pieces to wear are my new mom jeans, a few cute crop tops, a choker and cool sneakers. For one thing, I love the mom jeans because they’re so airy. When I’m wearing them, it feels casual because of the way they’re made to fit loose on the body. At the same time, they look super chic. They are also a great staple item because they’re lightweight enough to use for a day that is hot in the afternoon and still protect when the air starts to get cold and breezy.

The next most important part of an outfit for me is what top I will use to help me counter the ever-fleeting hot and cold parts of the day. I like to use crop tops because I can easily put on a light jacket if it gets cold in class or outside. Otherwise, I can just tuck it back in my bag if the weather warms up.

Besides the bottom and top I choose, the most crucial finishing touches have to be the accessories that will compliment the outfit altogether. If you’re one of my friends or my classmates, you’re probably sick of seeing me wear the black choker and hoop earrings. I mean I try to change it up and add a necklace or two, but I love my accessories! One of my beliefs is that everyone has a few staple items they almost, if not, always wear and that’s what distinguishes their personality in Fashionista style.
