STYLE GURU STYLE: Warm And Fluffy

Hello Fashionistas! It’s finally December, and I could not be more excited about it. The holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year, and the cold weather it brings with it also calls for cute winter clothing. Living in places with cold, snowy winters can be tough. The key to winter outfits, especially in single digit temperatures, is number one, warmth and number two, comfort. However, staying warm and comfortable does not have to come at the cost of looking cute.

I’ve always been a fan of a classic, minimalistic look. I like to look “put together” but not over done. This fall and winter, I have been loving my over-the-knee boots. I thought maybe they were just a trend for last year, but false alarm—they are back this year and better than ever. They’re perfect because they can be paired with almost anything. They’re practical, and of course they’re cute. They instantly and effortlessly pull together any outfit. Boots with only a little heel, like these Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots, are casual enough to wear to class, but they can also be dressed up for a night out. There are also numerous cheaper alternatives for a nice pair of over-the-knee boots, many for under $100.

I wore this outfit for a day out shopping downtown and getting lunch with friends. I paired my black over-the-knee boots with a classic pair of skinny jeans that I bought from Topshop. These boots would also look great with a dark wash pair of jeans or even black jeans or leggings. I then took just a basic, fitted, long sleeve beige shirt and tucked it into my high waisted jeans. To top that off, I paired it with this super unique fluffy white jacket that I purchased from Free People. It’s super warm and comfortable, different than your basic jacket, and it helps tie the whole outfit together. I found a similar white jacket at Urban Outfitters. I paired the outfit with this inexpensive black floppy hat, so there was no need to style my hair.

Overall, I took the boots and the jacket—the two focal points of the outfit—and paired them with staples like jeans and long sleeve shirts that everyone is bound to have in their closet. It turned out to be a super effortless and classic look. I was comfortable, warm and still loved my outfit!
