STYLE GURU STYLE: Wearing Warm

Céline’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection is the only thing that has kept me alive through these brutally cold few weeks (kidding, kind of). It features beautiful, long coats. Among these coats are beautiful peacoats, which are longer then a Fashionista/o may be used to wearing. These jackets come down to about your mid-calf instead of about knee-high and have quit a few buttons running along the side. They are perfect for that brutal wind chill that has been hitting the northeast.

After cleaning out the coat closet in my house, I stumbled upon this peacoat that my mom had bought in 2001, which was the same year Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore their matching denim outfits. So, of course, at first, I was a little skeptical. I tried it on and instantly felt like I was wearing a heated blanket. Not only was it warm, it looked almost like one of the coats I had seen in the Céline collection.

On the runway, Céline paired the peacoat and other mid-calf jackets with more business/dressy attire. Instead, I wore cuffed light wash, distressed boyfriend jeans with black booties. I paired those with a striped blue and white sweater and a neon yellow silver statement necklace.

I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with this coat, but it was totally worth it. Not only was I warm, but wearing a peacoat that long makes you feel very mature and empowering. Who knew one jacket could do so much?

Get My Look: 1. Gray, chunky scarf. 2. Black booties. 3. Full length peacoat. 4. Distressed boyfriend jeans.
