When humidity hits the city, I immediately struggle with what to wear and how to stay cool. I also rarely take on the challenge of wearing bright, neon colors. However, surfing through resort 2016 collections has proved me wrong, especially in Marissa Webb’s line of chic, cruise-ready resort wear. I took inspiration from one specific look of the collection and played with colors and dramatic shapes.
The Marissa Webb look features a very summery, watermelon pink blouse. I happen to wear my own loose chiffon tank in the same bold shade; this color is a fancy choice for the daytime in tropical weather. The high-waisted, crisp white pants remind me of my favorite white culottes, so I wore them over my tank top to cinch the extra material. The wide-leg shape and length are tricky to style, so I took them to a higher level with nude wedges. The ankle straps on the wedges give the illusion of longer legs. I carried a simple, black wallet that acts as a clutch to dress up the look once more. For hair, I created some loose, beachy waves with a one inch wand and spritzed humidity proof hairspray to hold the curls.
When in doubt of what to wear for the summer, I always peek at resort collections that scream elegant, summer attire on a Bahamas cruise. Marissa Webb’s collection is a definite must-see for those who want to play with shapes, stripes and little bit of bold colors.
