I know that all of my articles have featured looks that incorporate the color black. I promise that I’ll branch out and add some color to my future posts, but I couldn’t help but share my new favorite outfit inspired by the Brandon Maxwell fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection.
This collection, while quite monochromatic, captured my attention with its sleek construction and unique necklines. I loved the black and white color scheme; who would’ve guessed? The tailored lines of all of the tops accented with interesting features, like bell sleeves and capes look incredible with simple black skinnies. I admire Maxwell’s designs because of his versatility. He can design daring outfits for Lady Gaga and unique, but tamer looks for everyday women.
Taking inspiration from Brandon Maxwell’s collection, I paired a cream and white striped Bardot top with classic black skinny jeans. The fun neckline and black pants reminded me specifically of look 28 in Maxwell’s collection. Dealing with the Atlanta heat, it’s impossible to wear all black all the time. Tight and tailored clothing is also pretty uncomfortable right now. The light linen fabric and billowy nature of this top helped me look and keep cool. This look includes my favorite pair of shoes which are my leather peep-toe booties by Dolce Vita. I accessorized with my favorite pair of sunglasses, some bracelets and an Apple watch to keep track of my physical activity.
All of these pieces come together to create an effortless and chic look, perfect going out with friends or shopping in the city.
