Monochrome is such a versatile trend, and it’s only getting bigger for this spring and summer season. It seemed that every designer had a least one monochrome look this past fashion week, and many of them featured head to toe white outfits. DKNY had some great all-white looks in the spring 2015 collection. I also loved the mix of feminine dresses and sneakers. This combination is also an emerging trend in 2015.
This look, with its white dress and sneakers, stood out to me the most. I just love the contrast between the full feminine skirt and the athletic shoes. The simplicity of the monochrome style is very chic and easy to replicate. I decided to put my own spin on this white-hot look.
I started with a white skater dress. The full skirt is playful and great for spring, while the skinny straps and textured fabric keep the dress from looking boring. I personally like this style of dress because it’s easy and flattering on almost anyone, as opposed to bodycon dresses, which are a little trickier to pull off. I paired the dress with my monochromatic Converse sneakers. The best part about these shoes is that they are leather instead of the traditional canvas. This means they are easier to clean and also look more interesting.
This outfit is so simple but can be easily customized. I would add some white sunglasses for a day in the city or a colorful cross-body bag to wear on a night out. The great thing about this look’s simplicity is that it is a blank canvas for you to showcase your own style.
