Hey Macklemore, can we go thrift shopping? Just kidding. Can’t say I don’t feel a little like Macklemore when I wear this coat though!
This week has been super exciting in Oxford because we finally had our first snowfall! Nothing to put you in the Christmas spirit like trees glistening with icicles and a white dusting as far as the eye can see. However, with the new snowfall comes a whole new challenge—what to wear when it is cold outside! Lucky for me, I have quite a bit of experience with this problem due to growing up in Michigan where six inches of snow overnight is considered a normal thing. My tip to you is to wear things you are comfortable in and add a few winter essentials. Layering is key this season!
To start, the biggest necessity (besides perhaps a warm coat) is a good pair of warm and waterproof boots. A common misconception is that these boots are bulky and unattractive, which is totally untrue. The key factors are comfort, durability and, of course, style! These boots were a steal on Black Friday last year. I like how they look like normal combat boots, but, because of the fleece lining, are just so much warmer! My jeans are from Madewell and are just a classic, high waisted pair. Next up is a turtleneck sweater from PacSun. I am a HUGE advocate of turtlenecks. What can I say, I get it from my momma. In my opinion, nothing quite makes you feel as cozy as a turtleneck. My western style belt is from Nordstrom and is the perfect accessory to grunge up any outfit. Lastly, but certainly not least, is this awesome faux fur coat from Forever 21. Fur is a huge trend this season and I think it adds an instant glam effect to any outfit! Nothing wrong with adding a little pizazz to an overall simple outfit.
Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas season and a very Happy New Year! Happy styling.
