STYLE GURU STYLE: Work The Tan

Dressing up your spring break sunburn can be quite challenging, so sticking to some neutrals and spring sandals is the easiest way to stay trendy and cool (literally). While one might get caught up in staying trendy, finding pieces that make you comfortable should be your goal.

Amidst the chaos of both New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, it’s easy to get lost in the wonder and perfection of so many collections. Céline, one of my favorite brands since I was younger, combines simplicity and comfort with the most versatile color palette. Taking influence from the Céline 2016 ready-to-wear collection for this season, the color tan is used quite significantly throughout the show. I used the inspiration of color and the comfort of most of these looks to put together a casual returning from spring break look.

The versatility of the color tan is why it is one of the main colors in my closet (besides black, of course). Sporting the monochromatic tan look created a unique contrast on my newly tanned (burned) skin. Combining the texture of a sweater dress with the perfection of a large leather tote and high gladiators received a lot of compliments from random people throughout the streets of Charleston.

My look includes a three quarter length sweater tank dress with a more revealing slit detail near the thigh. To add to this look, I wore my wrap gladiator sandals, which can be worn up to the knee or wrapped around the ankle, which I chose to wear mid-length. I used the bag as a larger accessory against the simplistic nature of the dress and sandals. For some who hate carrying the larger totes, also pictured is a smaller clutch wallet from the Gucci spring floral collection.

My tan will be gone before the color tan ever goes out of style, therefore adding such a great basic color to your wardrobe will not only last, but will keep you trendy like Céline.

Get my look: 1. Any midi sweater dress. 2. High gladiator sandals. 3. Either a large luggage tote or a smaller clutch wallet.
