Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Carley Bishop and I am so thrilled to be interning for CollegeFashionista! I am a freshman at the University of South Carolina and I’m a business and marketing major. Even though there are a lot of stereotypes about Southerners and their style, at USC you will see every style, trend and look you could possibly think of. Each student brings a unique vibe to our campus and every outfit is representative of their personality or mood.
Growing up, I was a tomboy and was not interested in clothing or makeup. It wasn’t until later that I found a real appreciation for any sort of style besides shorts and an old T-shirt. Now you can catch me in all sorts of getups. I am the youngest of three daughters, so I grew up “borrowing” clothes from my mom and two older sisters. Most of my style inspiration comes from them and their fabulous tastes.
The outfit I chose for my bio represents the two style elements I know best: comfort and femininity. I love clothes that are soft in both feel and color, but never in flare! This dusty pink pocket dress from Forever 21 is super comfy and can be worn in any season. By adding a suede jacket with a furry inside, nude ankle boots and a floppy hat, I am giving the outfit a wintery touch.
I look forward to sharing many more articles with all of you. My obsession with shoes and bold red lipstick will soon become apparent! I am excited to learn and get inspiration from you all. As the great Oscar Wilde says, “You can never be over-dressed or over-educated.”
