Hello again Fashionistas/os!
Let me re-introduce myself to you all. I am Taylor Kelly, a sophomore at Ball State University majoring in telecommunications with a minor in fashion. I am so happy to continue as a Style Guru for my second semester. I had such a great experience last semester and I learned quite a bit about fashion and blogging.
Before this internship, I did not have a lot of experience with blogging or the fashion industry. With this opportunity, I was able to get a taste of both of those worlds. All my life I have loved everything about fashion and beauty. From the hairstyle down to the shoes that complete a look.
However, the fashion industry has always been very intimidating to me. I always felt as if I was not informed enough, or like I didn’t know enough about what I was talking about. There is so much to know and so much to learn that it can be overwhelming. But I learned that part of knowing fashion comes from experience. It comes from just being exposed to different fashion outlets, trends, articles, blogs/bloggers, magazines, media, celebrities, etc. which can give me more perspective into the industry.
Fashion is not always about the newest and hottest trends. Sometimes, it is simply what sets one person’s style apart from another. There are many pieces in my closet that do not follow any of the latest trends but I chose to wear them anyway because it makes me feel good.
My style tends to be a bit all over the place. I like mixing things up from day to day, it really just depends on my mood. Whether I want to rock all neutral colors, throw in a pop of color, keep it basic, or add some different texture. I chose to do both with the outfit I am wearing in the picture. I took simple denim jeans, a black shirt, black booties, and spiced it up with a black and brown fur vest and a choker to make the outfit pop. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is being comfortable and confident in what I am wearing.
