They say to not sweat the small stuff… until your small little dorm, apartment, or house key goes missing in action and you feel like life as you know it will never be okay again. I’m sure you have been there before; after a long, long day of classes or work, climbing up a few flights of steps, and reaching the door as you think about hiding under the comforter and watching Netflix for hours… until you realize you misplaced the key. Although getting locked out is not the absolute worst thing in the world, it is definitely on the list.
Have no fear, these three key tips are here to save the day and help you to never loose your key again!
The Lanyard – A lanyard is one of the most successful ways to keep track of a key. Whether you keep it in your pocket, bag, even wear it around your neck– it makes hunting down your key ten times easier to find. Also, lanyards come in various colors, patterns, and designs that make it more personal and identifiable if lost.
The Hair Tie –Â Keep your friend close, but your key closer with this simple tip! With a hair tie, loop it through the key hole (as pictured). This instantly makes any key wearable. Whether you decide to wear it around your wrist or through a belt loop, the elastic of the hair band makes the key stretch to easily unlock any door!
The Carabiner – One thing I have learned to be helpful is keeping a carabiner attached to my backpack at all times. Why? For easy key access in those rushed, on-the-go moments. Secured to the strap of my bag, I like to keep my key attached to a carabiner with an elastic hair tie. This simple trick allows me to keep my key visible and handy at any moments notice. Traveling without a bag? Attach the carabiner to a shirt strap, shoe lace, or jacket zipper for alternate uses!
