Brunch is much more than just a menu with diversity (go ahead, order tacos with that waffle) or an excuse to drink champagne at noon. It’s a festivity involving good friends, an opportunity to laugh over a busy week, and, of course, great style.
So, what’s the dress code? You set the rules, Fashionista. My go-to attire for the occasion is usually something that screams Gossip Girl on a budget—let’s be real, Gossip Girl made us all love fashion and want to brunch. This includes warm colored, feminine, and polished styles that can make a girl feel I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T. This Fashionista reflects the exact image my brain illustrates at the thought of brunching. Show just the right amount of skin with an off-the-shoulder dress, top, or romper. There’s a very feminine and slightly sexy feeling that comes along with dressing in one of these shoulder-loving pieces. One of my favorite ways to turn up a day dress is to throw on a pair of boots, just like the ones you see on her, which I am loving. A pair of boots can often dress down your look while also making you feel effortlessly cool. To compete your attire, have fun with accessories by layering. There aren’t many designated rules to layering, but I find it best to pair more visible statement pieces with smaller, daintier ones.
The rules to dressing for brunch are simple—play around with your sense of style but always keep it classy. Never settle for less than an egg-cellent Sunday, and make this brunch thing a thing.
