Fashion seems to have an overwhelming amount of invisible rules—a central rule being to never wear too much of the same color. The most A-list celebrities are praised for wearing denim on denim, yet average girls or guys wearing green-on-green or red-on-red are looked at as peculiar. So what is fashion, anyway? Personally, I believe fashion is all about breaking the rules and expressing your mood, your personality, or your beliefs.
The weather has proven to always be a strong influence on someone’s personal style, especially now with spring’s arrival. On a cloudy day like pictured here, blue tones have made their way into this Fashionisto’s wardrobe. Not only does his outfit match the weather, but it also shows that wearing blue-on-blue is pretty cool, to say the least. Dressed in his pastel blue hoodie, dark denim wash jeans, and blue-accented sneakers, he transformed this nearby college park into a street style photoshoot.
In the midst of photographing him, I noticed so many more blue details that I hadn’t seen from a distance like the blue gem on his ring and the blue stripes on his socks. Even the slightest hints of blue added to this Fashionisto’s overall ensemble and pulled his entire look together. By pairing a variety of different shades of blue, he really embodied those dull, gloomy day “blues” without looking too over the top.
Don’t overthink when it comes to picking what you want to wear. Don’t be afraid to take risks and break the so-called rules of fashion. Don’t worry about matching too much. And, who knows, maybe you’ll unconsciously end up matching the weather.
