The start of September is an exciting time: reuniting with your college friends, beginnings of cooler weather and back to school shopping! As a fellow Fashionista/o myself, I am always excited to find new additions to my fall wardrobe. However, I often find myself avoiding trendier pieces and opting for clothes that are more relaxed. While September is awesome for the reasons above, the start of this transitioning month also marks the beginning of classes. During syllabus week especially, as us students on campus struggle to find our classes, putting together a decent outfit can seem tiresome. Why spend over 30 minutes choosing an outfit when you can just throw on athletic shorts and a large T-shirt to wear to your 8:00 a.m.? Well, I’m here to show you Fashionista/os an outfit that highlights your style while allowing you to remain comfortable.
Inspired by the ‘70s, this Fashionista smartly wears a corduroy circle skirt with a fitted T-shirt. Vogue expects corduroy to make a serious comeback, so this Fashionista is ahead of the game. She expertly shows off her Van Gogh socks by pairing them with cutout Dr. Marten sandals. Her footwear is cool and practical for walking from class to class. Unlike heels, she won’t regret her choice of shoes at the end of the day. On her black leather backpack, she pins two silver brooches, adding a vintage touch to the contemporary trend. Her backpack is also apt for a school day. There’s enough space for pencils and notebooks, but it’s not so big that it’d be heavy. The colors of her outfit also epitomize fall: black and tan, with touches of yellow and blue in the sunflower decorations on her T-shirt and socks. This Fashionista is prepared for school, and her outfit shows.
One Simple Change: Play around with fabrics! Velvet, denim and silk are just as interesting fabrics as corduroy, and each add a different touch to your look.
