Well Fashionista/os, here we are again. As 2015 and the new semester get started, make fashion your resolution! A new semester is a clean slate not only for grades and classes, but also for making friends and good first impressions. The first day of class is always nerve-wracking: new schedule and classmates. So many people to impress!
Remember when you were growing up and you just had to have the most stylin’ first day of school outfit? Don’t lose that! Put on your rockin’ new clothes that you binge-bought with your holiday money and turn heads across campus this semester. When creating the perfect back to school look, it is important to keep a few things in mind. First, the weather. Don’t let the dreary forecast take a toll on your style. Instead, make the best of it. Second, remember what the occasion is. Try not to over do it and keep true to yourself! Your style is an extension of your personality, and is one of the first things people will notice about you. If you wear outfits that you feel confident in, people are bound to gravitate towards you.
I spotted this Fashionista dashing off to class on our second day back on campus. It was a drab, chilly day in the Bronx, but that didn’t stop her from rocking this fabulous outfit. She paired a cream-colored peacoat with a plaid skater skirt, leg warmers, riding boots and tights. The opacity of the tights contrasts with the cream peacoat and leg warmers, really drawing attention to the softness of the outfit. Her A-line skirt ties the whole outfit together with its subtle swing and slight coloring. In considering her accessories, she kept it simple, as the leg warmers are the main accessory of the outfit. She carried a plain black purse and sported simple, black-framed glasses.
This Fashionista’s Blair Waldorf-inspired look is perfect for making a great first impression on new classmates. Creating this outfit did not take her long, and is a great expression of her own personal style. With her effortlessly adorable school girl flair, she is totally ready to hit the books and take on the spring semester.
One Simple Change: Swap the socks and boots with a pair of high heels to instantly transform this outfit for a night out. It’ll make the plaid stand out as opposed to having the socks and boots as the focal point. This change will perfectly transition the outfit into a date, dinner or party-worthy look.
