Welcome to a new semester, Fashionistas/os! Classes at St. Bonaventure University began yesterday, and I spotted this Fashionista in the perfect outfit, ready to make a good first day impression. Her ensemble is a combination of feminine and laid back, making for an effortlessly chic look.
She began with a floral skirt. The skirt hit just above the knee, which is a great length for class. The pattern added a bit of summer wistfulness to an otherwise dreary winter day. To keep warm, she paired the skirt with a cozy sweater. My favorite part of the outfit is her denim jacket. It makes the look casual with its light wash and slightly oversized fit. It is the perfect layering piece as it will keep her warm and can easily be removed if the heat is on too high in a classroom. She rolled up the sleeves to add some shape. Because the wind was much too cold for bare legs, she used a pair of cream, textured tights and grey socks which peeked out above her moccasin booties. The shoes add a bohemian, cool edge to the look.
The key to the first days of classes is to make an effort without looking like you are making an effort. This means pairing dressy items with casual items. Like this Fashionista, you can pair a skirt with a denim jacket. You could also try a dress with a leather jacket or slouchy cardigan. If you are opting for jeans, try a pair of skinny jeans with a patterned sweater or an embroidered blouse. Wear boots if you live in a snowy climate because even though it is spring semester, we are stuck in the middle of winter.
One Simple Change: You and your friends want to celebrate after you survive the first day of classes. For a girl’s night out, switch out your boots for a pair of heels or flats and you are all set.
