Midwestern weather can be a bit unpredictable, which can make dressing for the upcoming summer difficult. It is starting to become that time of the year when we all want to exchange our puffy winter coats for lightweight summer gear. However, the weather does not always comply with our wishes.
This Fashionista knows how to have great, summer style while staying warm. She has on olive-green printed, loose-fit pants. They are lightweight with a flower pattern, two trends seen in summer style clothing. The wide leg and loose fit of the pant is complementary to many different body types. In this fashion lover’s case, it extenuates her long legs. I think it is important to emphasize our different body types through fashion. This Fashionista has long legs, so why not wear pants that will make them look even longer? Heels or wedges can also help add some height!
In order to accompany these patterned pants, it is important that the top is basic; no patterns, designs, bright colors or beading. Do not get me wrong, I am a fan of crazy patterns (just look at the pants!) and bright colors. However, too much of anything is never good. The pants are paired with a lightweight, neutral sweater and serve as the statement of the outfit. That way, the shirt’s only job is to complement the pants. The sweater is loosely knit, which makes for an airy piece that is perfect for the summer. The holes in the sweater make the basic top trendy. A long necklace accompanies the sweater and adds some color.
One Simple Change: If it does get too hot to wear a sweater, then trade it in for a tank top. However, keep the pants. The basic tank top can even be worn under the sweater and taken off as needed.
