It’s finally starting to feel like winter here in Providence, which makes dressing up a lot less desirable. If we are lucky enough to even find the energy to get out of bed on these chilly 30 degree mornings, we want nothing more than to just throw on our favorite sweatshirt and call it a day. Getting back into the swing of things after break is truly a challenge like no other. Our classes start up again, projects begin to pile up and we are pretty much already counting down the days until spring break. Just when we think we have it together, we find ourselves face to face with another huge obstacle and highly anticipated time of year: Valentine’s Day. So let’s speak hypothetically, if any of you lovely Fashionistas will be catching dates this Valentine’s Day, why not make it a brunch? After all this special day does fall on a Sunday this year! Yes Fashionistas, this very special article not only comes with style advice but a date idea as well. So to save yourselves some chaos, and spare yourselves a messy room with piles of rejected clothes thrown about, because I found a Fashionista who has the perfect Valentine’s brunch outfit for you!
This Fashionista has a variety of pieces from head to toe that many of you probably have sitting in your closet right now! Layering a simple white long-sleeved ribbed shirt from American Eagle with a heather gray sweater dress from Marshalls creates a perfect shield against the cold, keeping the warmth within the two layers; contrasting with a comfy pair of black lululemon leggings, and a pair of pointed black flats from Old Navy. This look is easily attainable and affordable! It is also totally brunch/date appropriate. It is classic, chic, comfortable and can blend well in any environment without the appearance of “overdoing it”. Oh, and we can’t forget the most important part of this entire outfit! This Fashionista scooped up this one of a kind hot pink kate spade bag from her local T.J. Maxx! This AMAZING bag adds the perfect pop of color to this neutral outfit, plus it is the ultimate festive Valentine’s Day accent–we can always count on Kate. Topped of with a few accent rings and a fresh manicure; who wouldn’t want to be seen brunching in this?!
One Simple Change: Just finished up your Valentine’s brunch and are headed to your friend’s house for a girl’s celebration? No problem-o! Try swapping out your sweater dress for an over-sized cardigan and a fuzzy funnel scarf to keep it a little more casual but also stay warm.
