After a long weekend, a Sunday brunch with friends is the perfect way to unwind and eat good food. And, even better, the occasion is an excuse to dress up. This Fashionista is on her way to brunch and dressed to impress.
I love how this Fashionista incorporated different styles in this outfit, but altogether created a business casual look. While on the exterior the outfit may appear formal, this Fashionista cleverly dresses down her outfit. She loosely tucks a cotton white peasant top into her dark jeans. I am a huge fan of flowy tops that can be slightly tucked—it’s a simple trick that ties an outfit together. For this kind of look, sticking to darker washes of jeans is a great way to make the outfit a bit nicer while still maintaining a casual edge.
The most formal part of this ensemble is the blazer. Navy blue and embellished with gold buttons, this blazer is chic and lends the outfit a preppy/classic twist. Many brunch spots require upscale attire and this jacket is perfect for the dress code. Moreover, it’s never a bad idea to have a jacket of some sort when going to a cold restaurant.
My favorite part of this Fashionista’s outfit is her shoes. These cognac color strappy platforms are ideal for the spring and summer seasons. Platform shoes have made a major comeback this year, but what I love about these shoes in particular is that they’re very retro looking. In addition, they’re incredibly versatile and comfortable—a must-have for all Fashionistas.
For a pop of color, she carries a bright orange wallet, which is fitting for the season. She accessorizes minimally, wearing only a simple gold, nautical themed necklace.
One Simple Change: Getting ready for class? To take this look to class, trade in the platforms for some flats. The look is still the same, but more appropriate in a class environment.
