School is back in session, and boy, am I feeling it. The days of staying in bed watching movies or sitting poolside are over. Now I’m sitting in bed writing papers again and moving through required reading. But it’s good to be back, even though I have to plan my outfits around the possibility of rain every day. I feel invigorated walking on my campus again. When I’m not in class, I’m at home in my small apartment, just me and my puppy, playing and pretending that I don’t have other things to do. It’s a good life.
But when I really need a break from the hectic life that is college, I turn to brunch. I’m convinced that brunch is healing. There’s just something about breakfast food and a lot of it, that can make the heart happy–but maybe not my cholesterol levels. My friends and I try to plan brunch dates when the going gets tough, and it’s nice to hash it out over actual hash browns.
Part of the magic of brunch is dressing up for it. When I spotted this Fashionista I knew she knew how to brunch right. Her denim, polka-dot dress had an edge with cutouts on the sides, and she grounded herself with nude block heels. A white kate spade new york purse settled in the crook of her arm, and a gold bracelet and earrings brought the look together. Simple makeup honing in on her natural glow really made this Fashionista shine. Brunch is about going the extra mile (and sleeping in) so why not dress for the occasion? Someone’s gotta look better than those waffles.
Running errands after brunch? No problem! Swap out the block heels for basic sandals and speed through the grocery store aisles in style.
