WHAT TO WEAR: Casual and Chic

As a biology major, it’s rare for me to trek my way over to the other side of campus, where I get a break from the largely homogeneous population of UCLA-sweatshirt-wearing pre-health students carrying their lab coats to research facilities and huge lecture halls. On the other side, art and design majors grace the world with their spunky, but somehow still stylish, outfits. On the other side, style inspiration is everywhere. On the other side, I learn how to get out of that UCLA-sweatshirt-wearing pre-health style rut that usually hits around finals week.

This is where I found this Fashionista in an outfit perfect for looking stylish during classes without compromising spunk. Her slightly faded, ripped skinny jeans are perfect for staying comfortable in classes with a little bit of an edge. The jeans go perfectly with her cropped button-up, featuring the embroidery trend that’s become so huge this spring. She topped off her perfectly matched outfit with simple gold hoops and the most perfect pair of platform black booties.

Outfits like this are the absolute greatest for staying casual and chic for nonstop classes. Any black top with some kind of embroidery will instantly make your look on-trend without causing the kind of discomfort none of us have the time for as college students. Ripped jeans add just the perfect touch of edginess to an otherwise simple look, and those platform booties are a necessity for those of us who may not be as tall as we’d like to be. Finally, simple gold hoops are the way to go to instantly spice up any look. I guarantee you’ll definitely be catching me in an outfit just like this around finals week to nail that sought-after “casual-chic” look.
