Minneapolis seems to be home to the vintage and thrifty looks. Just about 60 percent of the time I find myself complimenting someone else’s outfit, the response is something along the lines of “Oh this? I just got it at Goodwill!” or “Thanks! It was my mom’s back in the ‘90s.” We Fashionistas/os at the University of Minnesota have friendly arguments over who got the best bargain when thrift store shopping. Needless to say, when walking through campus there are always original and stylish outfits everywhere—from high-waisted boyfriend jeans and distressed band tees to worn in Reeboks and tennis skirts, the looks are always fresh. There is something about these vintage looks that always seem to incorporate comfort and warmth to them, making them ideal for long lectures and labs.
Taking advantage of the last nice warm days of Fall, this Fashionista wasn’t afraid to show some leg with her burgundy, corduroy mini skirt which she paired with her favorite worn-in white cowboy boots. While the boots themselves make the outfit stand out, I couldn’t help but admire the way she paired her bohemian style blouse with her cool denim jacket. To top the outfit off, she added a sleek, dark leather, Coach satchel and chunky earrings. The look together mixes sweet boho with a rocker edge, and we are loving it.
One Simple Change: Swapping out the cowboy boots with some heeled booties will give you the perfect look for catching a concert at a local venue or simply just a night out on the town with your crew!
