Most non-fashion students wear the same winter uniform to class every day: sweatpants, sweatshirt and snow boots. But as a fashion major, it’s in our unwritten code of conduct to dress like a true Fashionista to every class. On a normal day at Kent State you can see fashion students in fabulous heels and dresses, done-up faces, the newest trends and sometimes outfits that seem more like costumes. It’s practically inappropriate to dress down in our building. This Fashionista does an amazing job at expressing a sporty and fashionable style without sitting in uncomfortable pieces through long lectures.
As I wore my jeans and scratchy sweater, I envied this Fashionista in class. She wore comfortable and casual pieces but her look was totally on point. This Fashionista pulls off a lot of current trends with this outfit. One of the hottest colors of this winter season is maroon. She rocks this with her oversized cotton spirit jersey and large hobo tote. She’s also wearing one of the most popular outerwear pieces that every Kent State student has: the perfect puffy vest. Layering is always a smart choice for weather with dropping temperatures and easily makes an outfit look more put together.
My favorite part of her look is her two-toned baseball cap. It works well with her sporty jersey while also being super chic. Our Fashionista is also very weather conscious. Her full cable knit scarf and waterproof booties are a must for the frigid air and muddy grass patches around campus. She finishes her look with a flashy gold watch and plain black leggings. This look has the perfect amount of sass and can be done easily by any fashion student!
One Simple Change: Since our Fashionista is in a sorority on campus, she could easily replace her maroon spirit jersey with a button-down denim chambray shirt to go straight to a Greek Life event! This will make the outfit a little more polished without too much effort.
