Now that the weather is (finally) starting to cool down around the Iowa City area, there has been a drastic shift in the outfits seen on campus. While many students continued to rock their favorite high-waisted shorts and printed tanks into the first few weeks of class, the weather is no longer permitting summer fashion statements. If you are anything like me, you are probably jumping at the opportunity to start pulling out sweaters from last fall. Although I want to look cute, we are now in the midst of another semester, and it is often difficult to take the time to dress up. As we all know, it is very tempting to throw on an old sweatshirt for class and call it a day. However, I am a firm believer that when you look good, you feel good. Luckily, there are many simple ways to look cute for class and still maintain an optimal level of comfort.
This Fashionista proves that cute and comfortable can go hand-in-hand this fall. She keeps comfort her priority as she sits through her lectures in a pair of leggings. However, instead of pairing the leggings with an old sweatshirt, she choose a lace-trimmed sweater. The sweater manages to dress up the leggings, but is comfortable enough to wear to a day full of lectures. To finish the look, she puts on a pair of combat boots that are perfect for the cooler weather. This outfit remains very neutral in color, which helps tie the pieces together very well. Neutrals are also incredibly important to the fall season that we have finally found ourselves in.
One Simple Change: Going downtown after class? Swap out the leggings for a pair of dark wash denim jeans and replace the combat boots with high heeled booties. Add some dangling, sparkly earrings and a few chunky bracelets to match and you will have transformed your class outfit into one that is perfect for a night out.
