Brrr it is cold here in Toronto! It makes me want to snuggle up in bed with a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket while watching some Netflix. Way more relaxing than doing weekly readings for class!
I found this Fashionista while taking a little shopping break on Queen West. This is a perfect example of an outfit for the cold weather, because while stylish, it is still functional for the cold temperatures. It allows someone to stay warm while partaking in winter activities such as ice-skating and leisurely winter walks. A neutral, wool turtleneck is a great choice for the colder weather, because it keeps you warm and cozy. Over the turtleneck this Fashionista wore a symmetrical coat, which covers the top half allowing the lower half of the outfit to be seen, as the button overlaps onto the other side. This can easily be achieved by only buttoning up the first button to allow for a looser fit. This jacket would be perfect with a patterned skirt in warmer weather, because as it would allow the dress to peak out underneath. It is like a little tease, because you can only see part of the outfit and when the jacket is off you can see the whole dress.
Next she wore a simple pair of black jeans and gray slip-ons, which are great for the colder weather, because they keep everything protected from the chill; a great alternative to winter boots when there is not any snow on the ground. Finally she chose a nude nail polish. The color is fresh and clean making it a great choice for the winter months!
With the neutral tones and different textures, this is a great cold weather outfit to wear and become your go-to look. Just be sure to bundle up!
One Simple Change: After spending the day partaking in winter activities that require a cold weather outfit, you might get a little hungry and want to go out for date night. Simply change out of the slip-ons for a pair of over-the-knee boots, a wool hat and red lips. Voila your ready for a night out!
