WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

When I was a kid, I used to love the snow. The excitement I would get from the first snowfall would overwhelm me to the extent that I would actually jump up and down in gleeful laughter at the sight. I just knew that when the ground was all covered up, I would be able to go sledding and make snow angels. And how the snow gleamed as the light of the night sky shined on it! My Granny used to call snow “a beautiful misery,” but those words made no sense to me as a kid. It was not until I was older that I realized she was right. Snow can be brutal and so can living in the Midwest where the temperature can get down way past negative twenty degrees—no, thank you! For this reason it is super important to bundle up in the winter. Of course, bundling can make it tricky to look both cute and comfy, but I have some tips and tricks that can make this easier.

As shown by this Fashionista, a coat with down will keep you extra warm, but adding a little color and funky details will keep you looking super cute in this cold weather. The bright pink is super sassy, but also ultra-feminine. The zipper detailing added an extra element to the simplicity of the coat. I really loved how there was a single pocket on one side and two pockets on the other. This is perfect for keeping your hands warm, but also for storing your phone. And who can forget a fur hood to keep your neck and face warm on those extra chilly days!

The next piece I really loved on this Fashionista was the gloves. These gloves will keep you warm, but still look fashionable. The black and white pattern did not clash with the brightness of the coat, but still stood out on its own, which was a perfect balance of colors and patterns. These gloves also look sophisticated, but with a touch of girliness. Honestly, I cannot wait to get my hands on a pair of these amazing gloves. But first, let’s talk about the last element you need for winter.

This chunky scarf is my absolute favorite part of this look. It is bold, yet simple and super warm. The knit details are elegant and the fringe plays up the sassiness. Since it is so long and thick, you can wrap it around your neck a few times and stay warm all day. Just be careful it does not drag on the ground.

I hope these tips and tricks will be helpful for you this time of year and keep you looking cute as you step out into the crisp air.

One Simple Change: This look is super versatile and can be taken from day to night. Instead of the scarf, try a faux fur headband instead. It will dress up the outfit just enough for a date or a special occasion.
