This past weekend at Hampton University, the student body had the pleasure of welcoming American rap artist, Future, for our first concert of the school year. All week students, including myself, raved about what we would wear in hopes that the weather would permit, being that chances of rain were in the forecast. Unfortunately, it did rain on our parade, but that didn’t stop Hampton University’s Fashionistas from putting on a show.
When dressing for a concert, you want to be stylish and on-trend, yet comfortable. Wearing heels could be a hassle between waiting in long lines and waiting for the artist, but wearing flats may make you feel under-dressed or normcore. The process of achieving the perfect look isn’t easy and in fact, could be tremendously stressful.
Gladly, this Fashionista felt no pressure when she chose her ensemble for the concert. She chose to go with an edgy, simple look that had enough detail to keep her outfit far from boring. Taking the rain into consideration, she wore a black crop top from H&M and matched it with a pair of black skinny and distressed jeans from Joe’s Jeans. The jeans were naturally washed out to achieve a vintage appeal and had the perfect amount of rips in them to make a statement.
For her shoes, she decided to top it off with a pair of white Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Rubber sneakers. The shoes were the perfect addition to complement her all-black fit. As for the rain, the shoes were rubber, keeping the water out and the comfort in. She accessorized by carrying a gray suede, snakeskin patterned clutch from Topshop, along with a gold watch from Nordstrom. Her pair of gold hoop earrings from ALDO highlights her natural makeup and pulls her ensemble all together.
One Simple Change: Want to wear this fit again for a girls night out?! Switch the Converse out for a hot pair of black single-sole heels and you’ll really be making a statement!
