Music festivals and concerts are some of summer’s most exciting events. What Fashionista/o doesn’t love enjoying great music with friends on a warm summer night? If you’re anything like me, finding the perfect concert outfit has proven to be difficult. It has to be stylish, comfortable and versatile enough to fit the heat of the summer afternoon as well as the cooler temperatures at night. Who wants to lug around a jacket or a sweater that you might not even use? That’s where my one of my favorite summer trends, the kimono comes into play. A kimono provides a light extra layer in case the temperature cools down without being bulky or too warm. An added bonus is kimonos are thin enough to be folded to fit into even the smallest of purses, if you decide to take it off.
This Fashionista’s outfit is perfect for any concert, no matter what genre of music is playing. Her black on black combo with this lace-up top and shorts is just the right amount of edgy and rocker, while her floral kimono adds a free-spirited bohemian vibe to create a great balance between the two. This look works great for a summer night concert because it is lightweight enough for the warm weather and comfortable enough to dance the night away. The best thing about this outfit is that it is very easy to recreate with the items you have in your own closet. A black top and shorts are basic essentials in anyone’s wardrobe, and even if you don’t have a kimono they are inexpensive and easy to find! Now go create your concert look, kick back and enjoy the summer!
One Simple Change: Tailgating before the show? Try swapping out the kimono for a lightweight plaid button-down. Leave the front open and roll up the sleeves for a more casual daytime look.
