WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

College students look forward to music events throughout the year because it helps to take away the pressures of being more of an adult. Concerts during the summer can be incredibly adventurous for most college students since our summers are not the same as they were during childhood or early teenage years. During summer we try to take on extra summer classes to advance our degrees, we find jobs to pay for the textbooks we need for the summer classes and we fight for internships in order to boost our resumes. We do this to prove to ourselves that we can take care of priorities and invest our skills for the future we want to have. In the meantime, we are in a space trying to master the skill of learning to be responsible adults while looking for fun by taking advantage of our youth and rocking out to some music.

Music events have always been popular among college students, especially during the summer when classes are finally over. Since festival season is upon us, I decided to spot some of this season’s fashion trends at a local music festival this past weekend. Various college students from El Paso, Texas, and its surrounding areas attend the yearly Neon Desert Music Festival. This local popular event is held downtown, in the heart of the city, and it enables cultural appreciation for the border town with music, art and food. This event was held as a celebration by many college students who wanted to unwind the school stress with music and fashionable statement outfits to express the love for the art of music festivals.

During concerts most people tend to wear shorts for their versatility and convenience; however, this Fashionista decided to use a bohemian off-the-shoulder dress and keep a feminine look. The dress was kept stylish with comfy black sandals for those long hours standing waiting for her favorite artist to perform and her black cross-body bag added some edge to her look. The most remarkable part of her look was the metallic statement necklace that transformed her feminine dress to edgier look for a festival. Her outfit was fresh enough for the heated crowds at the festival and it was very comfortable for the long hours walking around downtown. This Fashionista was ready to fulfill a musical experience while rocking out in a chic sophisticated way.

One Simple Change: If you wanted to use this outfit for a date night, I would switch up the statement necklace for a more delicate jewelry piece around your face. You want your date to focus on your inner style, and not have a necklace take away too much space from your face area.
