As you can see by the beautiful colored leaves on the ground and the wind blowing in this Fashionista’s gorgeous locks, fall is in full swing here in State College. Fall at Penn State can be associated with anything from football game tailgates to hot cider, but for me, fall means fashion and exploring new styles each and every day of the season.
Living in a place where all seasons are present can have its perks, but it can also have a few downsides. It’s tough waking up for your 8:00 a.m. class especially since the sun is barely awake itself. And then later in the day, you have to walk back from classes perspiring profusely, while holding your jacket that you no longer need. This beginning phase of fall has students confused on what to wear to class, but when the sun goes down and there’s a constant chill in the air, outfits become easier to wear throughout the night.
Here at Penn State, weekend plans can range from hiking Mount Nittany to hanging out at the bar with friends, so it’s best to keep outfits simple yet fashion-forward this fall season. That being said, check out this Fashionista’s simple but very chic look for her special date night downtown.
This Fashionista’s look incorporates a lot of dark tones, but that’s what fall is all about. Sporting an all-black look has an edgy and strong vibe that every Fashionista/o wants in an outfit. This look explores the interplay of a circle skirt and a comfy knit sweater, from Forever 21, transforming the usual shape that a circle skirt creates on the body. This Fashionista’s sweater hangs over her skirt for a more casual and effortless style.
This Gossip Girl-esque ensemble is perfect for a date night look. It’s casual yet a tad dressy with the skirt and heels. The hat and necklace, both from Forever 21, are stunning accessories as they add just enough flare without going over the top. This Fashionista can go from downtown State College to the streets of New York City with this modern look and still feel confident and fashionable.
One Simple Change: Want to go from date night to a night out with friends? Get rid of the hat completely (even though it’s absolutely adorable) and swap the black sweater for a cropped, short-sleeved sweater, and you’re ready to hit up downtown with your friends!
