Did you know that peonies only grow in the early summer? One day, on a humid afternoon, I was talking to a woman selling flowers at the Union Square Farmers Market and she informed me that they weren’t in season. Even though I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to buy peonies, I was completely inspired by the many people walking back and forth, shopping fresh local produce. I’ve walked by the farmer’s market many times before, but each time it makes me feel like this. As I kept walking, I was checking out the flowers by the Pavilion Restaurant, which is only open in the summer, when I spotted this Fashionista walking out. Her simple, monochromatic outfit caught my eye.
This Fashionista wore a cropped white shirt with a very comfortable pair of tan colored pants. She styled the outfit with a black Tory Burch bag and a T-strap sandals. Her look is perfect for enjoying the hot sun but it’s also great for the cool summer nights. When I told her that these pictures were for CollegeFashionista, I learned that she also has a strong interest in fashion. I love how we easily connected. It’s really nice to know that there are a whole lot of people who are passionate about something just as much are you are.
Where there is community, there is fashion. After meeting this Fashionista, I started thinking about the relationship between fashion and food. How would fashion look like without coffee shops, bakeries or restaurants? Try to imagine it. It seems impossible, right? Both fashion and food create an amazing community full of art and culture. It also gives us Fashionistas a reason to dress up. We eat good while looking good, it’s as simple as that.
One Simple Change: At night it might get a little chilly, but no worries! Add a cardigan and you are ready to go! If that doesn’t warm you up, you can even add a cute scarf.
