With athleisure taking over, I was super excited to do a post covering this trend. Athleisure is all about casual comfort with a fashion twist, which is what this outfit strives to achieve. The halter neck on this crop top is a great way to keep the front relatively conservative while showing more skin on the back. To break up the monotone of the black of the outfit, the peep of skin between the crop top and pants, as well as the rips on the jeans, gives a bit of variety to the look. I know ripped black jeans, such as these, have been blowing up on my campus and I can’t wait to see this look continue to be publicized.
The sunglasses featured in this post, here, add a touch of ’70s glam to a relatively modern outfit. Vintage has been making a comeback for years now and this is just another example of that. These have been featured everywhere from Instagram to fashion bloggers to fashion brands such as ASOS, Urban Outfitters and H&M.
Where this look truly becomes athleisure is in the shoes. adidas Superstars, found here, are the biggest comeback shoe I’ve seen other than platform sandals; they’ve been sought-after since at least the ’90s and are now growing in popularity amongst young trend setters. They’re perfect for long walks to class, running errands and even going to brunch on the weekends.
To take this look from day to night, add a pair of heeled booties and statement necklace or a bomber jacket depending on your style to add a touch of personal flair. Simple changes can easily elevate this look from day-time casual to night-time glam.
One Simple Change: To make this outfit work for a girl’s night out you could easily switch to a pair of simple heels and statement earrings or a bright jacket to add some color.
