WHAT TO WEAR: Errands

Whether it’s picking up dry cleaning or going grocery shopping, we all have those little errands that have to get done even if the weather decides not to cooperate. Looking over the long list of to-dos, it is hard not to think longingly of that stretchy pair of sweatpants and old baseball hat. But even on the busiest of days, it is possible to look stylish and still be comfortable.

On those wet, cloudy days, rain boots are a must. Venturing out in your leather booties or strappy sandals might be your worst mistake when coping with muddy puddles. Not only do rain boots protect your fresh pedicure, but they also come in an array of tempting colors and patterns, like this cherry red from Michael Kors. An umbrella is also necessary when avoiding frizzy hair and smudged mascara. Bubble umbrellas have become especially trendy; this clear one is great for seeing the streets while staying as dry as possible.

To stay warm in the drizzle, this Fashionista chose a tan knit sweater and layered a brown bomber jacket on top. Leather coats are a versatile addition to anyone’s wardrobe, no matter your style. Bomber jackets in particular are flattering because they taper in at the waist and have a high collar, creating a cool, tailored look. To match her laid back ensemble, she wore jeans and an effortless updo. She polished off the look with a black, white and tan statement necklace and gold hoop earrings to add some femininity.

One Simple Change: A busy day of running errands can be just as hectic as a day packed with classes and club meetings. This look could easily be used as a fall or back to school outfit by swapping out the umbrella and rain boots for leather boots and a tote bag to stash notebooks in when the weather turns chilly in the fall.
