It’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting colder and everything you could possibly imagine can be bought in pumpkin flavors. Your flip flops are retreating to the back of your closet to hibernate until the spring, and your wardrobe begins to reflect both the weather and the sentiment of the season. Yes, fall is in full swing here in Happy Valley, and this time of year is opportune for fashionable expression.
I spotted this Fashionista working at a bake sale on my walk home from class on a particularly cold and windy day. While standing out in the cold for an extended period of time is not ideal, this Fashionista rocked it with style and a huge smile on her face. The bake sale presented me with the perfect opportunity to engage with her and take her photograph.
What immediately caught my eye about this look was the classic fall color of her cardigan that is just the right length to peak out from under her light, neutral-colored jacket. The combination of these two articles creates a balance in her outfit, and her over-the-knee boots complete the entire look.
One Simple Change: As we transition from fall to even colder weather, this look will maintain its quality as layers are added to the outfit. If I were to wear this outfit in the snow, I would trade in the over-the-knee boots for more functional boots, preferably with fur. Pairing them with thigh-high socks would maintain the aesthetic, and a parka or peacoat over the sweater would add just the right amount of warmth and style.
