WHAT TO WEAR: Finals

It is that time of year again. When late night study sessions, all-nighters, excessive amounts of caffeine and overcrowded libraries are the reality for students across campus. When last minute cramming becomes the number one priority, taking an extra ten minutes to bathe, let alone put together a half decent outfit seems like too much effort. While it might feel like a chore to look put together during finals, my theory is that it will be worth it.

“Dress for success,” is a common saying that we hear day in and day out. Even though it might seem cheesy, the saying actually seems to ring true. In my experience, I have found that when I dress well, I feel good. When I feel good, I am more successful. Now, I’m not saying pull out your tallest pair of heels, ladies (although, I have seen girls rock a pair during  finals week). But making an effort to dress well in order to feel amazing and ready to take a test seems to work well when it comes to acing that one class that has been stressing you out all semester.

This Fashionista is the perfect example of what dressing for success looks like. She has found that balance between comfort, style and simplicity. When you dress for success, the key is to rock the simplest outfit. It’s obvious that you need all the extra time you can get to last minute cram, so accessorizing is out of the question. That is why it’s best to stick to a neutral color palette combined with simple pieces.

I love the white, gray and black neutrals this Fashionista chose to wear. The smooth texture of the gray asymmetrical cardigan combined with a basic pair of black jeans and boots is simple in the most perfect way. Topped off with a lace-textured micro-top and casual, tousled locks, this look is effortlessly composed.

One Simple Change: Attending a late night study session where you’ll be sitting for hours? Swap out the black jeans for a pair of black leggings. You’ll look just as fabulous but with an extra ounce of comfort.
