It’s midterm season at the University of Arizona, and this usually means leggings and a tank top is the daily uniform on campus. While this look is comfortable, it gets a little old when you wear it every day. While I was off to accounting, I saw this Fashionista on her way to class and immediately loved her look! She paired a maroon top (Buffalo Exchange), with an embroidered bomber jacket (Anthropologie), sparkly ballet flats, and a vintage denim skirt that was her mom’s in the ’80s! Overall, her look was fresh, comfortable, and stylish, what I think the three requirements of all outfits should be!
When I asked her about her personal style, she responded that she loved easy, classic, and vintage pieces. I think one of the most exciting parts of fashion is when trends repeat and classic pieces never go out of style. The fact that we can still wear pieces from the ’80s and bohemian pieces from the ’70s is kind of out there, and also something different that makes you stand out. If you’re trying to add a few vintage pieces to your closet, try thrifting or going through your mom’s closet! Some of the easiest pieces that you can add are vintage scarves and jewelry. Add them to your handbag, hair, and of course, your neck to make any outfit a little more special! It’s a conversation starter, and you never know what kind of conversation might come out of an amazing piece of jewelry or clothing piece.
Grab a friend, or your mom and go play some dress up in some thrift stores! You never know what you might find, and what may inspire you. If you also want to know more about vintage fashion, read about fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel to implement some amazing pieces into your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to try a new look in college, have fun, and stand out among the crowd!
