WHAT TO WEAR: Girl's Night Out

Some of my favorite memories have come from girl’s nights out. So many movies, from Sleepover to Sex and the City to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, teach us all about the importance of girl’s nights for laughing, bonding and having fun with your girls. Whether it’s going out dancing or just dressing up for a nice dinner, there’s not a lot of pressure because you know that, no matter what, you’ll be surrounded by your best friends. That means that all that’s left to worry about is picking out what to wear, but if you’re reading CollegeFashionista, you’re probably like me in thinking that choosing an outfit is a ton of fun!

The perfect girl’s night out ensemble should be one that is a little glamorous, that you can move around in and that makes you feel confident. This Fashionista made the perfect choice with a swingy, printed skater skirt and black T-shirt. I love skater skirts because they naturally make me want to spin around everywhere; they’re fun and super easy to wear. It’s no secret that black is a go-to color for nighttime. You can truly never go wrong with an all-black look, but this Fashionista shows that you can also mix it up a bit with the tribal print of her skirt.

You have to be ready for almost anything on a girl’s night out (you never know what kind of epic, last-minute idea one of your friends will come up with far into the night), so don’t let yourself be held down by a bulky bag. Opt for a small, chic cross-body bag to fit only the essentials. The one in this outfit has metallic details and a chain strap, which makes it a bit more formal than your average daytime purse. The next step is to add a little bit of glitz to the look. This Fashionista is wearing a black crystal necklace that’s perfect for nighttime. Overall, she looks chic, fun and ready to have a blast with her friends!

One Simple Change: Since the skater skirt and T-shirt combination can easily be dressed up or down, this look could be changed into a more daytime appropriate ensemble for something like brunch. By taking away the glitzy accessories and swapping the black T-shirt for a lighter, brighter colored one, the outfit becomes a bit more casual and appropriate for the mid-morning sunshine.
