New York Fashion Week is always a week to remember. As Fashionistas/os, we glue our eyes to the screens as we watch live streams of our favorite designers and check out the street style. From the top brands to the up-and-coming, we see a variety of unique styles. But, as we gaze upon the models and the front row guests—what about those behind the scenes?
Being in New York City, many young adults who aspire to careers in fashion have immense opportunities to see the shows with their own eyes. In some cases, there are opportunities to work with a company or a designer. The Fashion Institute of Technology is known to give students a chance to get involved in the professional world through volunteering. This Fashionista was lucky enough to volunteer this past weekend with a company showcasing many budding designers.
The dress code for those backstage is simple – all black. Running an event like a fashion show is no walk in the park. The real struggle for volunteers is creating a fashionable look while remaining comfortable for the entire day. While keeping it casual and comfy, she makes sure her outfit for NYFW is stylish and chic. Wearing staple black skinny jeans, her top adds a touch of edge with a mesh collar and sleeves. Paired with black quilted leather slip-ons by Steve Madden, her outfit is the definition of casual-chic. To add personality, it’s her choice of accessories that makes the monochrome pop. Gold and silver bracelets give this outfit its finishing touch.
One Simple Change:Â Want to use this casual-chic look to go out with friends? Whether it’s lunch or a trip to the movies, switch the black top for a top with a bold color or print for added fun.
